Fateh Sagar Lake is Udaipur's second major lake, a quieter and more relaxed counterpart to the busier Lake Pichola.
History
The lake was originally built in 1678, then substantially rebuilt and expanded in 1889 by Maharana Fateh Singh after a flood breached the original embankment — the rebuilt lake takes its name from him.
What to See
Nehru Garden, a small island park with a boat-shaped cafe, sits in the middle of the lake and is reachable by boat. The lakefront promenade is popular for evening walks, with views across to the surrounding hills.
Best Time to Visit
Evening, for a relaxed walk along the lakefront and the cooler air off the water.
How to Reach
Fateh Sagar Lake is a short drive from central Udaipur, close to Saheliyon Ki Bari.
