Akshardham Temple is a vast, intricately carved Hindu temple complex on the banks of the Yamuna, and one of Delhi's most visited attractions for both its scale and craftsmanship.
History
Opened in 2005 and built by the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, Akshardham entered the Guinness World Records as the world's largest comprehensive Hindu temple, built using traditional carving techniques across acres of pink sandstone and white marble.
What to See
Beyond the main monument, the complex includes exhibition halls covering Indian art, culture, and spirituality, a boat ride (Sanskruti Vihar) depicting India's historical contributions to the world, and an evening musical fountain and light show at the Yagnapurush Kund water tank.
Visiting Rules
Security is strict — mobile phones, cameras, and bags are not allowed inside, though lockers are provided at the entrance. The temple is closed on Mondays.
