Solang Valley is Manali's adventure sports hub, a scenic valley best known for paragliding, zorbing, and — in winter — skiing against a backdrop of snow-capped peaks and glaciers.
What to Do
In the warmer months, Solang Valley offers paragliding, zorbing (rolling downhill inside a large inflatable ball), and cable car rides with valley views. In winter, the valley transforms into one of North India's more accessible spots for skiing and snowboarding, with equipment rental and short lessons widely available.
The Scenery
Even without doing any activities, Solang Valley is worth visiting simply for its dramatic setting — a wide green (or snow-covered) valley ringed by the Pir Panjal and Solang glaciers.
Entry Fees
Entering the valley is free; individual activities like paragliding, zorbing, or the cable car are priced separately, generally negotiated on the spot with local operators.
Best Time to Visit
Summer (May-June) for paragliding and green valley views; December to February for snow activities and skiing.
How to Reach
Solang Valley is about 14 km from Manali, easily reached by taxi.
