Kopeshwar Temple, in the village of Khidrapur on the banks of the Krishna River, is a lesser-visited but architecturally remarkable temple built in the Hemadpanti style — a construction technique using interlocking stones without mortar.
The Unique Open Nandi Mandap
The temple's most distinctive feature is its Swarga Mandap — an open-roofed circular pavilion housing the Nandi (bull) shrine, designed so that sunlight, moonlight, and rain fall directly onto the sacred bull, a rare architectural choice among Indian temples.
The Carvings
Every surface of the temple is densely carved with mythological figures, floral patterns, and elephant friezes, reflecting the skill of the artisans of the Shilahara dynasty period who built it.
